Paddling a kayak around the local marine park provides a pleasantly different perspective of Byron, and also gives you the opportunity to get up close to dolphins and sea turtles. Lessons are available if you need them.
The easy 4km walk to this iconic landmark takes you to the most easterly point on the Australian mainland and provides spectacular views, with opportunities to see pods of dolphins and, when in season, humpback whales.
You can’t visit Byron without hitting the surf, and if you need a few tips first then it’s easy to organise lessons that suit your level of capability. All sorts of surfboards and wetsuits are available for hire in the town centre.
